quoting growing up…

looking up quotes about growing up as a thread of conversations, thoughts, signs in life in past days have brought me to the now - pondering and sharing clues of what growing up could all mean, collected from all sorts of sources/ideas…

quotations are nice to take in.

“Most people don’t grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honor their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging.”
Maya Angelou

funny how obsessed current consumer culture, and the entire hi-story of colonization has with aging, the fear of getting old and dying. tis quite unnatural really…

strayofftrack:

I realize that my inability to progress as an adult results from my inability to leave my childhood; my inability to let go off the past. Some of the  happiest moments of my life happened when I was a child. There are also many things I wish I could change in my past, things I regret, and because of that I keep living there, hoping and remembering. But, it’s not healthy: you cannot grow if you don’t let go. You will always remain a child if you think like a child. I need to grow up.

Dear strayofftrack,

I rarely reply, though felt intrigued by what you wrote for there was a similar thought in my mind, this realization of things blocking me from acting - from letting go of things.

Letting go, being lighter, not worrying so much about silly thoughts… It is so difficult to do in this current reality of so much suffering no true reasoning.

It is interesting that you call it becoming and adult and leaving childhood, the idea of letting go… For I imagine being a child and being so carefree and learning so much about the world. I know it is impossible to go back to being just that, a budding being, but I also cannot let go of that curiosity of life, of learning.

The meanings behind being adult, of growing up, of what childhood means is all quite confusing in this day of age… It seems everyone I talk to about this idea of what it means to be an adult sees it differently…

Mind bee wandering ‘bout such thoughts,

share some quotes and interesting finds from online with you tumbling friends.

cos words cannot describe the absurdity (the suffering we`ve cultivated in “modern society“) that is life on earth for two thirds of world populas…

powerful art punches parasitic lies from out of truthy waters.

merci artist who created these.

Dr. Gabor Mate’s talk “Who we are when we are not addicted: the possible human” and as he mentions in the beginning, it is not him telling us what that means - the possible human, rather he goes through a sort of storytelling, clues on how we got to become such addicted beings, so detached from our true selves, detached from each other, detached from nature, and detached from our work so that what we do does not represent who we are.

and as the mad rad healer that he is, shares a lot knowledge that brings much needed understanding to how our society works and how the current material sicknesses we all got here in world (not including about a third of the world that lives with stillness with mother earth) is infected by us and affects us…

Blessed to have such a bright man in our mists.

When Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin, at that time two of the most famous people in the world, pulled up in their car to an opening of Chaplin’s latest film, the fans went wild. They clawed at the windows and climbed over one another to stare inside. Bewildered, Einstein said to Chaplin, “What does this mean?” Chaplin replied, “It means nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
